Introducing Mekdelawit Yeshitila (PhD.)

Mekdelawit Yeshitila (PhD) has been named the new Head of the Bavarian Office for Africa, effective June 1st, 2024. With an academic background in agricultural economics, Mekdelawit earned her PhD. From Kasetsart University in Bangkok, Thailand; M.Sc. from Hohenheim University in Stuttgart, Germany, and her B.Sc. from Jimma University in Ethiopia.

 

Mekdelawit brings a diverse experience to her new role, as she has worked as a Youth and Education Advisor at the German Development Cooperation (GiZ), focusing on projects that enhance youth employability. Before that, she spent over a decade as a lecturer, sharing her expertise in agricultural economics and supporting students in community-based training programs. Her work also includes consulting on agricultural and land governance projects across Ethiopia.

 

Her diverse academic and professional background and practical knowledge makes Mekdelawit a fitting choice to lead the Bavarian Office for Africa, where she will continue to promote collaboration and development efforts across the continent.
